The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) said heavy rainfall was also predicted in the southwestern US as the massive storm heads north. It added that Hilary Hurricane was loading maximum supported winds of about 140 miles an hour.
The following statement made it a Category Four hurricane, which is the second-most strong on the Saffir-Simpson scale of one to five.
The NHC added that Hilary Hurricane was located about 425 miles south of the Cabo San Lucas tourist resort on the southern tip of Baja California.
NHC predicted that prompt intensification is predicted to continue through this morning.
