Melania Trump is an “advocate” for Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News star, as potential VP for her husband, Donald Trump, according to a source close to Trump, Axios reported.
As per the report, Melania believes that Carlson “would make a powerful onstage extension” of her former president husband, with less than one year remaining before the November election.
Axios also hinted that a Trump-Carlson pairing “might encourage” Melania to engage more in the campaign trail. This is a domain where she has been notably absent since Trump declared his 2024 candidacy late last year.
When asked last month about Carlson as his vice president running companion, Trump said: “I like Tucker a lot. … He’s got great common sense.”
“You know, when they say that you guys are conservative, or I’m conservative — it’s not that we’re conservative, we have common sense,” Trump added. “We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall, because walls work.”
Many people close to Trump have dismissed the idea of Carlson because they believe Trump wouldn’t choose someone who might overshadow him. Trump’s staff is certain that Carlson is not easily controlled. However, the two men have frequent conversations, according to Axios.
Trump hasn’t finalized specific roles for particular individuals, and he dislikes when his staff and friends engage in speculative discussions about it. Detailed personnel planning is not his style, and his decisions often hinge on recent conversations.
However, in ongoing discussions with friends and advisers, he has expressed a preference for a certain type of individuals—mostly older, white men—who he would consider for key positions if he were to secure a second term.
Individuals expected to hold influence in a potential second Trump term share many similarities with Carlson. They are staunch supporters of the MAGA movement, firmly against the GOP establishment, and enthusiastic about pushing the limits of executive power to align with Trump’s objectives.
The report also mentioned that former President Trump is contemplating various potential 2024 running mates. The loyalty-first Cabinet picks include Stephen Miller, Mike Davis, Steve Bannon, Kash Patel, Jeffrey Clark, and a few others.
According to Radar Online, J.D. Vance, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kari Lake, and Kristi Noem are also on the list.
