On Wednesday, Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister of Thailand, was shifted from prison to a police hospital, officials said, a day after he was imprisoned on his return to home from 15 years in exile.
Ex-PM is suffering from numerous health complaints, officials said, and was shifted from prison to a police hospital briefly after a day of his return.
On Tuesday, a day before the former PM shifted from prison to hospital, Thaksin back home on the same day his party, the Pheu Thai party, returned to government in an agreement of power-sharing with pro-military parties, provoking widespread assumption of an agreement to shorten his prison time.
A corrections department spokesman, Sitthi Sutivong, said in a statement that on Wednesday night, jail medical authorities said Thaksin was suffering from insomnia, low blood oxygen, and high blood pressure.
He added that he has several illnesses that require to be taken care of — certain heart diseases and the jail hospital does not have the proper equipment. The doctor said Thaksin should be shifted to the Police hospital, he added.
After reached his home soil, Thaksin was taken to Bangkok prison, with the release of the Supreme Court’s statement saying he serve eight years in prison.
