Japanese embassy in China ‘extremely worried’ over Fukushima Water release harassment

On Tuesday, the China-based Japanese embassy voiced that they are “extremely worried” over the current harassment by local people over Japan’s release of wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear plant.

Japanese embassy’s press officer told AFP that they find this very distressing and feel extremely worried.

Beijing-based embassy demanded China ensure the security of these embassies and consulates in China by international law, including some aptitudes related to Japan, and Japan’s people.

Questioned by AFP about statements that China’s people had tossed bricks at Japan’s embassy in China and made disturbing phone calls, the press officer confirmed they were right.

Some people have come to our embassy entrance and they took these sorts of activities then were directed away by armed police, they explained.

They added that harassing calls are responded to every day, specifically on weekends, starting last Thursday and Friday, postponing our routine work.

Last week, Beijing barred all seafood imports from its neighbor as Tokyo began discharging water from the Fukushima plant in a procedure that Tokyo and the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog have stated is secure.

Since then, Beijing has recommended its locals in China keep a lower profile and has boosted safety around schools and diplomatic tasks.
Businesses in Japan, meanwhile, have been overwhelmed with disturbance calls from Chinese numbers.

On Monday, Fumio Kishida, the Prime Minister of Japan demanded China to assure peacefully and responsibly responsible way”.
