Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan has been sent to judicial remand for two weeks on accusations of leaking state secrets, Khan’s lawyer said.
On Wednesday, the Former PM’s custody was extended for two weeks till September 13 to probe him in the “cypher” case after Pakistan’s special court held the proceedings on the prison premises in Attock City.
The judicial remand of Khan comes a day after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended his conviction and three-year prison sentence on corruption indictments.
Imran Khan is charged with causing the public the contents of a secret cable sent by the ambassador of Pakistan to the United States and abusing it for political gain.
The lawyer of Khan, Salman Safdar told the media, after the court heard the “cypher” case, that we have filed a bail plea in the court and it will be heard on Saturday.
He added that we have also filed another plea challenging the prison trial and have urged that the lawsuit be heard in an open court and not in camera.
