On the appeal of former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan against his jail period, the much-awaited order was announced by a division bench including Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

Justice Aamer Farooq said that the copy of the judgment will be public shortly but all we are stating now is that (Imran Khan) request has been approved.

In his X account (formerly known as Twitter), Naeem Haider Panjotha, the aid of Chairman of PTI on legal affairs posted that the CJ suspended the (Imran Khan) sentence… a detailed judgment would be provided later.

چیف جسٹس صاحب نے ہماری درخواست منظور کر لی،سزا معطل کرتے ہوۓ کہا ہے کہ تفصیلی فیصلہ بعد میں لے لیجیے گا.

It is still not known when PTI’s Chairman will be released from Attock Jail. At the beginning of this month, Islamabad’s trial court sentenced the PTI leader in the lawsuit filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that concerned covering details of state gifts and imprisoned him for three years. The judgment meant he was disqualified from challenging general elections for five years.

The leader of PTI had later filed a plea in the high court against his sentence. He had also knocked the Supreme Court (SC) against Islambad’s court judgment to remand the case back to the judge of the trial court who had sentenced him.

Last week, the SC had accepted “procedural defects” in Khan’s conviction but chose to wait for the judgment of IHC on Imran’s appeal. The court’s statements had attracted the rage of the Pakistan Bar Council, which said there should be no “interference” in cases pending before the subordinate judiciary.

A day ago, Amjad Pervaiz, the counsel Advocate of the Pakistan Election Commission ended his statements and suggested the court give a notice to the state to make it a respondent in the lawsuit. For his part, Latif Khosa, the lawyer of Imran Khan had said he had no disapproval of an appeal of Pervaiz.

After today’s judgment, Taimur Khan Jhagra, PTI leader said the country hoped Imran to be released from jail today, he said on X.

The nation now expects Imran Khan to be released today.
The "abuse of the law" campaign against Imran Khan has sunk the country's systems far enough. We cannot afford more. https://t.co/1ZHwYMriJ7

Faisal Javed Khan, the Senator of PTI posted the verses of the Holy Quran voicing gratitude.

الحمد اللہ رب العالمین!

However, the PML-N expressed its disapproval towards today’s judgment, as party president Shehbaz Sharif said that Khan’s conviction had been suspended and “not terminated”.

Sharid said on X, the message of ‘good to see you’ and ‘wish you good luck’ of the Chief Justice of Pakistan’ has reached the IHC.

This moment is an issue of consideration for our justice system, he added.

وہ باہر نہیں آئیں گے — رہائی ممکن نہیں، دیگر کیسز میں Prosecution کا سامنا کرنا ہو گا!

Rana Sanaullah said, the former interior minister said on X that Khan will not come outside of jail and release is not possible, he has to encounter the prosecution in other cases!
