On Wednesday, Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, began with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, a couple of hours after North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast.
RIA Novosti, a Russian state news agency, reported that Kim arrived at the cosmodrome in Russia’s eastern Amur region on Wednesday morning, moments after it had said the arrival of Putin.
In a video circulated on Social media, Both leaders shook hands as they met.
Russian state media reported that Putin told Kim he was “very happy to see” him, while Kim thanked the Russian President for inviting him to visit Russia, “despite being engaged”.
The talks between Putin and Kim are expected
The Kim-Putin talks are expected to cover possible weapons sales, with the North Korean leader along with the top officials from the military and the weapons industry.
As Putin showed Kim around the cosmodrome, he told reporters from state media that “all issues” were up for talks, but that Moscow would assist Pyongyang in creating satellites.
The summit suggests a possibility for Putin to ensure much required weapons for Russia’s war in Ukraine and Kim is expected to push for economic support and military technology in return.
Not long before the discussion started, South Korea and Japan said they noticed the shot of two short-range ballistic missiles from the east coast of North Korea.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said that our military has intensified supervision and caution in rehearsal for further launches while keeping full readiness by closely cooperating with the US.
