Taiwan officials said that they found the remains of the Chinese meteorological balloon on Thursday. Taiwan officials immediately increase and tighten security at military facilities as Beijing renew its threats toward Taiwan.

The following incident occurs after United States President Joe Biden ordered the officials to shoot down a Chinese balloon. Remember Biden give orders after the suspected Chinese Balloon crossed US territory including flying over sensitive military sites.

US officials said it was a spy balloon and part of a fleet of such craft allegedly floating around the globe. While Beijing officials said it was just a meteorological craft. Beijing has accused Washington of sending similar devices into its airspace but the U.S. officials denied the charges.

A statement from Taiwan’s army said on Thursday some “unidentified objects” were spotted falling from the sky over the Matsu islands which are 280 kilometers away from the capital Taipei.

Where they found the one-meter-in-diameter remains of a balloon. In the remains they found a device inscribed with simplified Chinese characters commonly used in China “Taiyuan Radio No. 1 Factory Co., Ltd.” and “meteorology instrument.”

Our initial analysis is that the remains belong to a meteorological detection device which has been stored by relevant units to be further analyzed. All units are required to enhance camp patrols and continue to… monitor the relevant situation.”

Taiwan Army Statement

While in recent years Beijing has increased military, diplomatic, and economic pressure on Taiwan. China claims Taiwan as a part of its territory and has vowed that Taiwan will merge with China soon.

Chinese meteorological balloons had previously been spotted without providing details on the number and frequency. We would shoot down devices that pose a “high level of threat” but it has not yet encountered such a craft.
