On Friday, a senior Biden administration said that the United States agreed to support joint efforts with Washington allies to train Ukraine pilots on F-16 fighter jets. The following step will help to strengthen and enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Force, the official told.
As the training takes place over the coming months, our coalition of countries participating in this effort will decide when to provide jets, how many we will provide, and who will provide them.”
the official said.
The training session will take place outside Ukraine at sites in Europe and will require more than a month to complete the session, the official hopes to begin the training in the coming weeks.
So far, Washington and its allies have aimed on providing Kyiv with the systems, weapons, and training needed for offensive operations planned this spring and summer.
Discussions about improving the Ukrainian Air Force reflect our long-term commitment to Ukraine’s self-defense.”
the official said.
Despite providing and pledging billions of dollars of economic and military support to Ukraine, the US has been opposed to supplying fighter jets to Ukraine. But Europe has expressed interest and intent in supplying US-manufactured F-16s fighter jets.
US senior officials familiar with the following discussion vows to not be in the way of training on or supplying F-16 Fighter jets to European Countries.
