China’s President Xi Jinping likely to visit Russia in the coming months.

Xi Jinping, the Chinese president likely to visit Russia in the coming months for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Xi Jinping has faced many allegation over their relationship with Russia since Moscow’s invasion.

On Tuesday, With quoted people familiar with the plan the newspaper said the summit of Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin was an effort of China to play an active role to bring peace to Ukraine and a vital part to push for multi-part peace talks. The report added that Putin-Xi summit will use to reiterate calls that nuclear weapons should not be used.

According to Journal, Preparations for the trip to Russia are at an early stage and the date and timing of the trip haven’t been decided yet but Xi Jinping might visit in mid of April or in early May when Russia celebrates its World War Two victory over Nazi Germany.

Wang Yi, a Chinese top diplomat reportedly currently in Moscow, is expected to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. On a tour of Europe, Wang stepped up to negotiate a settlement to end the war in Ukraine.

The last meeting between Xi Jinping and Putin was held in China last year, that was days before Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. The two leader announced a “no limits” partnership where no areas of cooperation were “forbidden”. While Beijing hasn’t condemn Russia’s invasion neither joined sanctions against Moscow but it has urged disputes should be settled by “peaceful means”.

Meanwhile, China’s relations with the US have been impaired after the US shoot down a Chinese spy balloon this month that was flying over US territory.

In Moscow on Tuesday, Wang again stressed the two countries’ close ties in a meeting with Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of Russia’s powerful Security Council and a close confidant of Putin.

Chinese-Russian relations are mature in character: they are rock solid and will withstand any test in a changing international situation.”

Wang told Patrushev through a Russian interpreter

Meanwhile Patrushev told Wang that Beijing is a top priority in Russian foreign policy and that the two countries must stick together.

In the context of a campaign that is being waged by the collective West to contain both Russia and China, the further deepening of Russian-Chinese cooperation and interaction in the international arena is of particular importance.”

Patrushev was quoted as saying by state media outlet RIA.

The Kremlin has hinted that Wang Yi might also meet Vladimir Putin.
