Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate, will face another trial at the end of September, Malmo’s public prosecutor said on Friday, charged with “resisting arrest” at a July protest.
Police pulled the 20-year-old campaigner on July 24 from a climate rally by force in the Swedish port city.
Prosecutor Isabel Ekberg said that the protest was not authorized and led to traffic being blocked. The young woman refused to follow police orders to leave the site. Therefore, this is a case of denial to comply, she added.
Hours before the July rally, Thunberg received a court fine after a brief trial and conviction for not obeying police at a previous protest at the same port on June 19.
The rally, organized by the climate activist group Reclaim the Future, attempted to intercept the entrance and exit to the engaged port to protest against the usage of fossil fuels.
Thunberg’s date for the new trial has been set for September 27.
The environmental activist hit global fame after beginning her “School Strike for the Climate” in front of Sweden’s parliament in Stockholm at the age of 15.
In addition to activist climate strikes, Thunberg regularly criticizes governments and politicians for not properly managing climate issues.
