Nicolas Sarkozy, the former President of France slammed Ukraine and France by telling that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could be ended with new referendums in occupied regions.
Sarkozy told Le Figaro newspaper on Wednesday that the people of Ukraine will want to retake what has been stolen from them. But if they can’t handle it properly, the option will be between a battle … or taking the high road out with referendums rigidly watched by the global community.
When he was asked about the peninsula of Crimea, he said that any recovery to the way things were before is a fantasy.
The former president urged that Vladimir Putin, the Russian President was not irrational and could be achieved with the right sort of diplomacy from Europe.
Moscow is our (Europe) neighbor and it will remain, Sarkozy said.
He added that Diplomacy, meeting, and discussions will be the only way to find a sufficient solution. Nothing is achievable without settlement.
Kyiv should remain neutral and had no place in NATO or EU, Sarkozy said.
