On Wednesday, the Kremlin said that the probe into the plane crash that caused the life of mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin included the chance that it was caused intentionally, its first direct acknowledgment that he may have been killed.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman told reporters that it is clear that various versions are being viewed, including the version – you know what we are speaking about – let’s say, a planned atrocity. But we have to wait for the results of our Russian probe, he added.
The private aircraft on which Prigozhin was traveling to St. Petersburg from Moscow crashed north of Moscow and took all 10 people’s lives who were on board on August 23, including two other leading Wagner figures, his four guards, and a team of three.
The reason is yet not clear, but locals near the accident spot told Reuters they heard a boom and then saw the jet dive to the ground.
The accident that caused Prigozhin’s life came months after the Wagner Chief took authority of the southern city of Rostov in June.
The Brazilian agency told reporters that Moscow has reported to Brazil’s jet investigation authority that it will not investigate the crash of the Brazilian-made jet under international laws at the moment.
When Peskov was asked about that report, he answered that first of all, the probe is underway, and the Investigative Committee is engrossed in this.
