On Monday, Russia said it had added Piotr Hofmanski, the President of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is pursuing the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, to its wanted list.
A notice in the Russian interior ministry database said, “Hofmanski Piotr Jozef, Polish. Wanted under an article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.”
The ministry did not give any details of the allegations against Hofmanski.
In the Hague-based court ICC in March announced an arrest warrant for Putin on the war crime charge of unlawfully deporting Ukrainian children.
The ICC also issued a warrant against Russia’s presidential commissioner for children’s rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, on similar charges.
Earlier, Russia issued arrest warrants for Karim Khan, the ICC prosecutor, and several judges.
Russia, which is not a member of the ICC, urges the warrant against Russian President Putin is “void.”
The ICC in September opened a field office in Ukraine, as part of measures to hold Russian forces responsible for Moscow’s attack in the Western-supported country, Ukraine.
