Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister voiced disappointment that West sanctions against Russia over the battle in Ukraine were not holding any “economic impact”.
The European Union and the United States have imposed sanctions against Russia to restrict Russia’s capacity to finance its combat action.
But the tension has been revealed, the Russian economy has not tumbled under the significance of sanctions as was expected in some quarters.
In an interview with journalist Stephen Lamby, Baerbok said that imposing economic sanctions should have an economic effect but in this case it’s different.
She added that we have realized that with sensible decisions, sensible measures, decided between civilized governments, it is not possible to end this war.
The sense of democracy does not work in autocracies, Baerbock said for the book, which analyzes the response of the German government to the battle in Kyiv.
EU decided to another round of sanctions in June, to close the loopholes used by Moscow to avoid sanctions.
