Vladimir Putin, the Russian President said that the new “Sarmat” ballistic missile will be deployed this year following US reports that the weapon failed a recent test. The Western analysts dubbed “The Sarmat” as Satan 2. This intercontinental ballistic nuclear missile can carry multiple nuclear warheads. Vladimir Putin described this missile as “invincible”, it is among the next-generation advanced missiles.

We pay special attention, as before, to strengthening the nuclear triad. This year, the first launchers of the Sarmat missile system will be put on combat duty.

Putin said via video released by the Kremlin to mark the “Defender of the Fatherland Day” in Russia.

The US-based news agency, CNN quoted two anonymous US officials, saying the Russian nuclear missile “Sarmat” failed in a test this week.

On Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about the failure test of “Sarmat”, but he declined to give nay comment on this topic, saying it was “the prerogative of the defense ministry”. The Russian President has said the “Sarmat” heavy missile could hit any target on the Earth and will make the Kremlin’s enemies “think twice”.

On Tuesday, during address the nation, Putin said Russia will be suspending its participation in the New START treaty that is the last remaining nuclear arms pact with Washington. But later Moscow said Russia would still comply with the treaty until it expires in early 2026.
