Ukraine may only be used donated F-16 fighter jets by the Netherlands and Denmark within its own territory, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, the Danish Defence Minister was quoted as saying.
On Sunday, Copenhagen and Amsterdam reported they would supply F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv, with the first six due to be supplied around New Year.
According to the Ritzau news agency, Ellemann-Jensen said that we donate arms and weapons under the condition that these arms and fighter jets must be used to force the enemy out of the territory of Ukraine. And no other than that.
He added that those are the strict conditions that will be applied, whether it’s tanks or any other weapon, fighter jets, or something else.
Almost 19 fighter jets will be delivered to Ukraine by Denmark. The Netherlands has 42 F-16 fighter jets available in all but has yet to determine whether all of them will be donated or not.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of the war-torn country, said on Sunday that the fighter jets would boost the country’s air defenses and support its counterattack against Russian forces.
