Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesperson for the air force told late on Wednesday that Ukraine will not be able to operate US-fighter jets F-16 this coming autumn and winter.
In a joint telethon broadcast, Ihnat added that it’s already clear we won’t be able to protect Ukraine with US-built F-16 fighter jets during this year.
Kyiv has constantly called its Western allies to provide Ukraine with US-built F-16s, which Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine said would be an indication that Moscow’s invasion would end in defeat.
In May, Joe Biden, the President of the United States, approved training programs for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets but the schedule for the supply of warplanes has not been provided yet.
Ihnat added that Kyiv had great expectations for these jets, they will become part of Ukrainian air defense, that it will become part of air defense, able to protect us from Moscow’s missiles and drone chaos.
We want to back Kyiv defeat Moscow but has continually urged it does not want to activate a conflict between the NATO military alliance and Russia, the West said.
