Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, said that Russia wants to remove him from power by the end of 2023, a destabilization operation codenamed “Maidan-3”.
Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Sun, “The last information is that there is a plan that they want much, and the name of the operation is Maidan-3. It means to change the president [of Ukraine]– maybe it is not by killing. They will use any instruments they have. The idea is to launch a new operation that even has a name by the end of this year… You see, we can live with it.”
He cited that there have been at least five attempts of assassination by Russia.
Russia was seeking to sow discord within Ukraine by creating “chaos” domestically with the ultimate plan being to remove the president, Zelenskyy said on Friday.
“Our intelligence has information, which also came from our partners,” Zelenskyy said as quoted by the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda.
The report added that the Russian plan was known as “Maidan-3” – about the protests in the center of Kyiv in 2004 and 2013-2014, when Viktor Yanukovych, the 4th Ukrainian President, fled to Russia after the Euromaidan protests.
Zelenskyy stated, “Maidan is coup for them, so the operation is understandable.”
