Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister said, she would resign as Prime Minister before February, 7, and there would be a general election on the 14th of October. In a meeting of her Labour Party, Jacinda Ardern said,

I am human. We give as much as we can for as long as we can and then it’s time. And for me, it’s time. I just don’t have enough in the tank for another  four years.”

In a union government, Jacinda Ardern became Prime Minister in 2017. Then three years later she led her center-left Labour Party to a comprehensive victory in an election. As a leader, she got applauded from World Wide for her holding the situation of a terror attack on two Muslim mosques and handling the country in the tough situation of the CoVID pandemic. Besides she gave birth in her office and became the second woman to do so.

But her “Jacindamania” referred to as Jacinda Ardern’s popularity, fell down in current domestic polls because of worse inflation and an increasing crime rate. These are the statements from the government and others following her decision to step down as Prime Minister:

I show my respect to Jacinda for the humanity, kindness and empathy she brought to leadership. I Wish her and her family well for the next phase of their lives.”

Helen Clark, Former Prime Minister of New Zealand

She was not only an amazing boss but she support me in a personal capacity. I will never, ever forget the support she gave to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is a great leader, the hardest-working and pure-hearted person I have ever met.”

Jan Tinetti, Minster of Internal Affairs of New Zealand

On behalf of the National Party, I thank and respect for her service to our nation. She has given her best to this incredibly challenging job. I wish her and her family all the very best for the future.”

Christopher Luxon, Leader of the opposition of New Zealand

She has been a voice of calm, and strength.  There would be no better person who led us through the past five years and I respect her decision to stand aside.”

Chris Hipkins, Minister of Education of New Zealand

We remember, how warmly PM Arden welcomed us to Aotearoa, being with her.  An incredible world leader, she is manaakitanga personified.”

Tom Udall, Ambassador of the United States to New Zealand

Jacinda has shown the world how to lead with intellect and strength. She has shown that empathy and insight are powerful leadership qualities. She has been a fierce advocate for New Zealand.”

Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia

Thank you, Jacinda, for your partnership and your friendship over these past several years. I’m wishing you and your family nothing but the best, my friend.”

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada

She showed the World a new style of leadership through kindness and empathy. She is a leading example for many women. I respect and congratulate her and wish her the best of luck for the next phase of her life.”

Julia Gillard, The first and only female Prime Minister in Australian history

Your more than 5 years in office have occurred during the most turbulent time the world has faced since the second World War. You leave a legacy of true leadership qualities of compassion, strength, and kindness during some of NZ’s most challenging tragedies including the Christchurch mosque shootings, and the Covid pandemic.”

Mark Brown, Prime Minister of the Cook Islands
