Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister of Iran will visit Saudi Arabia on Thursday after the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two Islamic nations, Iran state TV has reported.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia visit Tehran in June and met with officials on his first visit after the resumption of diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic in March.

In March, Iran and Saudi Arabia announced that the two countries had reached a deal, arranged by China, to restore diplomatic ties after seven years of no formal links.

Under the agreement, Saudi Arabia and Iran decided to reopen countries’ embassies and consulates in each other’s regions and implement security and economic cooperation deals that were signed over 20 years ago.

In 2016, Riyadh cut off links with Tehran after an attack by pro-regime protesters on its embassy in Tehran.
