Videos spreading on online social media platforms showed the moment the famous Mecca clock tower – overlooking the Kaaba – was hit by thunderous lightning as the holy city of Saudi Arabia with a heavy thunderstorm.
Mohamed al-Hudhali, the photographer, captured the moment a thick streak of lightning struck the world’s largest (Mecca) clock tower on Wednesday evening.
Mecca noticed heavy rainfall on Wednesday, with the National Center of Meteorology increasing the alert levels to “Red Alert” – the highest level.
The center decreased the alert to “Yellow Alert” on Thursday.
Different videos shared online showed heavy rains drenching Muslim worshippers around the floors of the Kaaba as they participated in Umrah.
In August, a similar moment was captured and also went viral after a Saudi photographer captured the moment the Mecca clock tower was hit, lighting up the entire city.
