Prime Minister of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, has launched an extended campaign to donate one billion meals to the poor and hungry around the world.

Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed wrote on social media, “As it has become a yearly Ramadan tradition, this year we launch the ‘One Billion Meals Endowment’ campaign with the aim of sustainably providing hundreds of millions of meals to people in need.”

Speaking on the campaign, Sheikh Mohammed added, “828 million people suffer from hunger around the world, this means one in 10 people. As humans and as Muslims, it is our duty to be there for those in need, especially during the month of Ramadan. Even a small but sustainable contribution makes a bigger difference than a one-time large contribution.”

However, In the past few years during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Sheikh Mohammed launched a number of similar campaigns including the 10 million meals, 100 million meals and last year the one billion meals campaign. A number of residents and companies joined the campaign last year, and the campaign reached its target in less than a month.
