In a major escalation between two nuclear-armed neighbors, Pakistan launched a series of retaliatory strikes after Indian missile attacks on multiple Pakistani cities left three civilians dead and 12 others injured, according to security sources. The confrontation, which comes amid soaring regional tensions, has triggered widespread international concern.

Pakistan Downs Indian Rafale Jets and Hits Brigade Headquarters

Pakistan’s military response was swift and forceful. According to official sources, Pakistani forces downed Indian Rafale fighter jets and targeted an Indian brigade headquarters, dealing a significant blow to Indian military assets.

In addition, a missile strike in the Dudhniyal sector along the Line of Control (LoC) reportedly destroyed a major enemy post, demonstrating the precision and scale of Pakistan’s counteroffensive.

Indian Missile Strikes Hit Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli

The situation escalated after India launched missile attacks on Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli, three locations deep within Pakistani territory. According to Lt General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), these strikes were conducted from within Indian airspace.

“This is a cowardly and shameful act. Indian aircraft never entered Pakistan’s airspace,” said the military spokesperson, adding that “Pakistan will respond at a time and place of its choosing.”

Explosions in Muzaffarabad and Regional Blackout

Just after midnight, powerful explosions were reported in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, plunging the region into darkness due to a massive power outage. Witnesses described the blasts as intense, shaking the mountainous area and causing fear among local residents.

Pakistan’s military is currently assessing the full extent of the damage caused by the Indian attacks and has promised to release further details in due course.

Conflict Triggered by Pahalgam Attack in IIOJK

Tensions surged following a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The attack killed 26 tourists, including one Nepali national. India quickly blamed Pakistan for the incident, despite offering no concrete evidence.

Pakistan has denied any involvement and called for an independent and credible international investigation to determine the truth behind the deadly attack.

“Temporary Joy, Lasting Grief,” Says Pakistan’s Military

In a sharp warning to India, Lt Gen Chaudhry remarked,

“The temporary happiness India feels after this cowardly attack will soon be replaced with enduring grief.”

He confirmed that all air force units are on high alert and fully prepared for further developments.

Global Community Urged to Intervene

The ongoing conflict has alarmed the international community, with many world powers urging restraint and diplomacy to prevent further escalation. With missile strikes, civilian casualties, and cross-border military action now part of the equation, the stakes are higher than ever.
