On Thursday, The UN General Assembly approved a nonbinding resolution that calls for Russia to end hostilities in Ukraine and demands the withdrawal of its forces.

As per a UN estimate, the destructive war has already taken the lives of at least 7,199 civilians and left thousands of others injured, but the real figures are expected to be much higher. The UN Chief categorically condemned the war and demanded the pullout of the Russian army without any condition.

In all, 141 countries voiced support for the resolution. Seven opposed it, Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Mali, Eritrea and Nicaragua. However, 32 countries abstained during the vote. China, India, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and much of Africa and Central Asia were among the abstentions.
