Tesla has introduced its revamped Model 3 sedan, which is manufactured in China, one day ahead of its global launch. The debut took place at the China International Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing, where Tesla showcased a striking flame-red variant of the vehicle. This marks the first update to Tesla’s mass-market car lineup since the launch of the Model Y in 2020.
Notably, the release of the redesigned Model 3 highlights Tesla’s growing emphasis on the Chinese market, where it faces competition from companies like BYD. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time Tesla has rolled out a vehicle in China before doing so in the United States.
The new Model 3 will not be limited to China but will also be shipped to other markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East from Tesla’s Shanghai manufacturing facility. Among the notable features of the updated model is a rear display designed to enhance the in-car experience for passengers in the backseat.
The unveiling at the trade expo in Beijing attracted the attention of potential customers, such as 22-year-old university student Guo, who expressed his interest in the vehicle’s debut. He particularly appreciated the enhancements to the car’s audio system and the rear display, noting that it would make rides in the backseat more enjoyable.
However, some visitors, like Hu, remained cautious about making a purchase decision. Hu acknowledged the growing availability of new energy vehicles and didn’t find a compelling reason to choose Tesla at this time.
Tesla’s redesigned Model 3 will also be showcased at the upcoming Munich auto show, further signaling the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the global electric vehicle market.
