George Clooney and Amal Clooney Bid Adieu to Villa Oleandra near Lake Como

After two decades, George Clooney and Amal Clooney have made the emotional decision to say farewell to Villa Oleandra, their cherished property near Lake Como in Northern Italy. The move marks the end of an era for the power couple, and sources close to them have revealed that the iconic bachelor villa, which has been George Clooney’s residence since 2002, is now on the market with an astounding price tag of €100 million ($107 million).

This decision comes after years of speculations about George Clooney’s intentions to part with the stunning property, which features a botanical garden, an annex, and tennis courts.

George Clooney, a two-time Academy Award winner, has reportedly considered selling the villa in the past due to the incessant attention it drew from the paparazzi in the area. He originally acquired the villa in 2001 for a reported $10 million.

In 2010, there were rumors that soccer superstar David Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, were interested in purchasing the lakefront villa. Similar rumors circulated in 2015, shortly after George Clooney’s marriage to lawyer Amal Alamuddin, who first met Clooney at the Villa Oleandra. However, it appears that the couple now prefers their other properties.

Despite their affection for the region and its residents, the constant media spotlight has led George and Amal to explore other options. A source previously mentioned to Page Six, “George loves the area and the people who live there, but is conscious of the attention he gets when he is in town. He has received a substantial offer for the villa, which he is considering, and he would purchase another, less accessible property in a different part of Italy.”

In recent times, the couple has turned their attention to the Domaine du Canadel estate in the Provence region of France, which they acquired in 2021.

If Villa Oleandra manages to sell for a sum even remotely resembling the estimated asking price, it would signify a substantial profit compared to George Clooney’s original investment of $10 million when he acquired the villa from the Heinz family in 2002.
