On Wednesday, Hamas officials said that at least 30 people have been killed and hundreds of people wounded as Israel pounded the Gaza Strip with hundreds of airstrikes overnight.
Salama Marouf, the head of the government’s media office, told AFP that dozens of residential buildings, factories, mosques, and shops were hit.
The Israeli military confirmed it had struck several Hamas targets during the night.
Fighter jets destroyed “advanced detection systems” that Hamas operated to spot military aircraft, it said.
The military said that they also struck 80 Hamas targets in the Beit Hanoun area of the northeastern Gaza Strip, including two bank branches used by the militant group to “fund terrorism” in the enclave.
Air strikes also hit a weapons storage facility and an operating command center utilized by the Islamic militant group, it added.
