Coldplay’s Heartfelt Response to a Fan’s Request in Tokyo

During their “Music of The Spheres” world tour, the iconic British rock band, Coldplay, proved once again that they not only create chart-topping hits but also have a deep and heartfelt connection with their fans. In a heartwarming and emotional moment, the band made a concert-goer’s dream come true during their performance in Tokyo.

As lead singer Chris Martin finished the song “Hymn for The Weekend,” his eyes were drawn to a touching poster held up by a mother and her son in the crowd. The sign simply read, “Can you play ‘Everglow’?” What followed was a wave of excitement among the audience because “Everglow” was not part of Coldplay’s regular setlist for this tour.

In a remarkable and empathetic gesture, Chris Martin decided to take action. He invited the mother and her son to join him on stage, leading them towards his piano. The audience erupted in applause as Chris took a moment to read the full message on their poster, which originally read, “Can you play ‘Everglow’ for my husband in heaven?”

She was crying.
I'm sure it has reached to her husband in heaven…

With compassion and sincerity, the 46-year-old rock star responded with the words that would touch the hearts of everyone in attendance, saying, “Yes, I can and we will.” The tears of gratitude flowed from the eyes of the two fans, who were moved by the band’s incredible generosity and willingness to make their request a reality.

Before performing the requested song, “Everglow,” Chris Martin took a moment to explain its significance. He described it as a tribute to someone who has transitioned from their “human form” but continues to live on as a profound presence in your heart. In his words, “They’re around you, they protect you, and they love you. So this is a good choice, I think.”

Coldplay’s extraordinary connection with their fans doesn’t end with emotional moments like these. The band is also earning praise for their visually stunning stage designs and their commitment to environmentally friendly initiatives. This latest interaction with fans in Tokyo only reaffirms Coldplay’s status as one of the most beloved rock bands in the world, renowned not just for their music but for their genuine care and connection with their audience.
