The Duke of Sussex was joined by Meghan Markle, who attended the private charity event as he delivered a 19-minute speech focused on workplace mental health and personal resilience.

An Honest Reflection on Emotional Struggles

During his address, Harry described moments in his life when he felt overwhelmed, powerless, and uncertain about his place in the world.

He acknowledged that many people experience similar feelings, emphasizing that emotional struggles are not uncommon even for those in high-profile positions.

Harry also reflected on his journey through grief following the death of his mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997 when he was a child.

“Grief Does Not Disappear”

In his speech, Prince Harry spoke candidly about how loss shaped his early life, describing grief as a long-term emotional process that does not fade simply with time.

He said growing up under constant public attention made processing that loss even more difficult, adding that he struggled to find direction and purpose in the years that followed.

From Military Service to Mental Health Advocacy

Harry also discussed how his service in the British Army, including deployments in Afghanistan, helped him build resilience and understand the importance of emotional awareness.

He explained that resilience is not about suppressing emotions, but about developing the ability to manage them in a healthy way.

Fatherhood and Personal Growth

The Duke of Sussex reflected on how becoming a father to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet with Meghan Markle changed his perspective on life.

He said parenthood gave him purpose and made him more aware of the importance of emotional well-being within families.

Harry also emphasized that asking for help should be seen as a strength rather than a weakness, particularly for parents navigating stress and responsibility.

Focus on Mental Health Advocacy in Australia

The InterEdge Summit is part of a wider series of engagements during the couple’s Australia visit, which has largely focused on mental health awareness and community well-being.

Earlier in the trip, the couple visited youth mental health charity batyr, where they spoke with young people about social media and emotional health.

Harry also visited men’s health organization Movember, where he discussed fatherhood and the challenges of parenting in today’s world.

A Tour Centered on Wellbeing

Meghan Markle also carried out solo engagements during the trip, including visits focused on supporting women facing homelessness and domestic challenges.

The Australia visit continues to highlight the couple’s focus on mental health advocacy, community support, and public awareness campaigns across different sectors.
