Timothée Chalamet, the 27-year-old Oscar-nominated actor, made a triumphant return to the Saturday Night Live (SNL) stage for the fourth episode of the 49th season, proving that he is not only a gifted actor but also a versatile entertainer. Paired with indie supergroup boygenius as the musical guest, Chalamet’s hosting gig turned the night into a delightful showcase of humor and musical talent.

This marked Chalamet’s second hosting stint on SNL, the first one having occurred in 2020 during the throes of the pandemic, where he navigated the show masked. This time around, the atmosphere was celebratory as the actor reveled in the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, coinciding with his rehearsal week.

In his opening monologue, Chalamet humorously addressed the restrictions imposed during the strike, quipping, “The only thing I was allowed to talk about was that I have a commercial coming out.” The actor showcased his playful side, revealing details about an ad for Snow perfume directed by Martin Scorsese.

With the strike over, Chalamet joyously declared the return to a world where actors can freely discuss their projects. The monologue took a musical turn as he sang a rendition of “Pure Imagination” with updated lyrics, playfully promoting his upcoming movies, including the eagerly anticipated Dune sequel slated for a 2024 release.

The episode unfolded with various sketches, each highlighting a different facet of Chalamet’s comedic talent. From portraying a successful rapper on a talk show commemorating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop to playing a jacked gym employee in “Gym Call,” the actor seamlessly transitioned between roles, leaving the audience in stitches.

In a visually stunning video reminiscent of his Dune venture, Chalamet transformed into a warrior on a mission to thwart a colossal horse threatening humanity. The special effects and CGI-driven sequence added a cinematic touch to the SNL episode.

Chalamet’s musical abilities took center stage in multiple sketches, showcasing his singing and comedic timing. From rapping about having a “baby face” to participating in a talk show commemorating hip-hop, the actor demonstrated his diverse skill set.

The absence of Henry Cavill, the live-action Geralt, in the upcoming anime movie adaptation of “The Witcher” was announced, with Doug Cockle returning as the voice of Geralt. Fans took to social media to express their excitement about the animated addition to the beloved franchise.

As Chalamet continues to make waves with upcoming projects like “Wonka” and the delayed “Dune Part 2,” his SNL hosting gig served as a testament to his multifaceted talents. The episode concluded with Chalamet enjoying the SNL afterparty, joined by rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner, marking a night of success and celebration for the talented actor. With a stellar performance and an abundance of humor, Timothée Chalamet once again left his mark on the iconic SNL stage.
