In the upcoming DC Universe relaunch film, “Superman: Legacy,” the casting is complete with Nicholas Hoult stepping into the shoes of Superman’s formidable arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. Directed by James Gunn, this superhero remake has been generating buzz as it assembles a star-studded cast.
Already announced as part of the main ensemble are David Corenswet, set to portray Clark Kent, and Rachel Brosnahan, who will take on the role of Lois Lane. Hoult’s addition to the cast brings an exciting dynamic to the film, as he embodies the iconic character known for his bald head and relentless pursuit of bringing down the Last Son of Krypton.
While reports indicate that Hoult was a contender for the lead role, Gunn ultimately selected him to bring Luthor to life in “Superman: Legacy.” The film, a key component of DC Studios’ relaunch of the DC universe on both screen and television, is slated for release on July 11, 2025.
James Gunn, also the co-chief of DC Studios and the writer-director of “Superman: Legacy,” has been diligently working to finalize the cast following the conclusion of the actors’ strike. Gunn confirmed on November 11 that despite challenges, the production crew’s efforts ensured that the movie would proceed as planned, meeting its original release date.
In addition to Hoult, María Gabriela de Faría has been confirmed to play the Engineer, another villain in the film. The superhero lineup supporting Superman includes Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
As anticipation builds for this DC superhero spectacle, “Superman: Legacy” promises to deliver a fresh take on the iconic characters and storylines, marking a significant chapter in the DC universe’s on-screen revival.
