In a recent interview at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Awards, celebrated actress Emma Stone took a trip down memory lane, sharing insights into her beloved coming-of-age film, “Easy A.” As the movie’s iconic scenes find a new life on TikTok, Stone expressed her surprise at the enduring popularity of the 13-year-old film.

During the interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stone, who attended the event at the Palm Springs Convention Centre, was asked about the resurgence of a particular scene from “Easy A” featuring her vibing to Natasha Bedingfield’s “Pocketful of Sunshine” on TikTok. With a laugh, Stone admitted, “No, definitely not. Not at all.” The actress seemed pleasantly taken aback by the unexpected resurgence of the movie on the social media platform.

Delving into the emotional connection she has with her characters, Stone spoke about Olive Penderghast, the protagonist of “Easy A,” and drew parallels with her recent role as Bella in the film “Poor Things.” Stone revealed her deep affection for Olive, stating, “It’s interesting because thinking about Bella in this movie, there’s a couple of parts that really have made me go crazy with how much I love them. And that was the first one ever, Olive.”

Emma Stone credited the success of both films to the “great writing” by the respective screenwriters, Bert V. Royal for “Easy A” and Tony McNamara for “Poor Things.” According to Stone, the organic and impactful scripts created by these talented writers played a crucial role in making the characters unforgettable and contributing to the enduring charm of both movies.

As Emma Stone reflects on the unexpected resurgence of “Easy A” and the emotional depth she finds in her characters, it becomes evident that the film’s timeless appeal continues to captivate audiences. With a nod to the talented writers behind the scripts, Stone’s insights offer a glimpse into the enduring impact of well-crafted storytelling and the lasting connection audiences have with the characters she brings to life on the big screen.
