In a recent pre-show interview at the Golden Globe Awards 2024, Margot Robbie, star of the upcoming Barbie film, shared her excitement about Lady Gaga taking on the role of Harley Quinn in the sequel Joker: Folie á Deux.
When asked about Lady Gaga’s portrayal of the iconic character, Robbie exclaimed, “Oh my god, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing, I can’t wait to see it.” Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the 2016 movie Suicide Squad, revealed that she hasn’t discussed the role with Lady Gaga, stating, “I actually haven’t spoken to her about it. I almost don’t want to know so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.”
In a 2022 interview with MTV, Robbie expressed her happiness at seeing other artists express interest in portraying Harley Quinn. She emphasized her desire for the character to be passed from one great actor to another, similar to iconic roles like Macbeth or Batman.
