Addressing Rapp, Barrymore stated, “You and I, by the way, you’re my protector.” She went on to recount a troubling incident that occurred in August 2023 during a discussion about Rapp’s debut album, Snow Angel, in New York City.
Out of nowhere, a man charged towards the stage where Barrymore and Rapp were present. Security guards quickly stepped in, but it was Rapp who exhibited swift and effective action. Barrymore recalled, “Reneé and I had an incident recently where this guy came to attack me on a stage that I was [on] with Reneé, and she mama-beared out and protected me so well.” The actress went on to describe Rapp as “protective and amazing” throughout the entire ordeal.
Rapp’s quick thinking and protective instincts came to the forefront as she grabbed Barrymore and led her off the stage to safety. Once the situation was under control, the two resumed their discussion, with Barrymore adding a touch of humor by comparing Rapp to Kevin Costner’s character in “The Bodyguard.” “You are my Kevin Costner,” quipped Barrymore.
The alarming incident did not end there. A few days later, the same man was temporarily detained outside Barrymore’s New York home, according to reports by Deadline.
