Lisa from BLACKPINK has shared a fascinating insight into how learning multiple languages helped her not just thrive in her career but also survive the challenges of living abroad. The 27-year-old Thai rapper and singer of the globally renowned K-pop group revealed that she learned four languages—English, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese—as a crucial survival skill.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, opened up about her journey with languages. Despite not feeling naturally gifted with languages, she was determined to master them to succeed in her new life and career. “I don’t think I have the talent for languages, but in Korea, I had to live, so I had to learn,” she explained.

Her linguistic journey began when she moved to Korea to pursue her dream of becoming a part of BLACKPINK. Lisa knew that speaking the local language was essential to connecting with others and advancing in her career. “I had to survive, I guess,” she said candidly. “It was just common sense—if I wanted to get what I wanted, I had to learn and try to speak with local people. I was spending more and more time on that.”

Lisa’s determination to learn Korean was also fueled by her love for K-dramas. She shared that watching K-dramas was a great way to relax and unwind. “K-dramas are nothing too serious, so when I need to calm myself down, I watch them, and it really helps,” she said. This not only helped her understand the language better but also gave her a chance to immerse herself in Korean culture.

Over the years, Lisa has also released music in Korean, Japanese, and English, showcasing her fluency in multiple languages and highlighting her versatility as an artist. Her story is a testament to the power of language and how it can open doors to new opportunities, especially for someone pursuing their dreams in a foreign country.

Lisa’s journey to mastering multiple languages emphasizes her hard work, resilience, and commitment to connecting with people from different cultures. Through language, she has not only survived but thrived, becoming a global sensation with a strong fanbase across the world.
