Joseph Quinn, best known for his role in Stranger Things, is stepping into ancient Rome as Emperor Geta in the upcoming Gladiator II. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor shared insights into his personal style and the elaborate wardrobe behind his character’s opulent look.
In an interview with GQ, the 30-year-old actor spoke about his approach to fashion, particularly for high-profile events. “Aesthetics and comfort have always been important to me,” Quinn said, adding, “But if it looks great and feels great too, that’s always a bonus.” At the London premiere of the Gladiator sequel, Quinn turned heads in a sleek Prada ensemble, showcasing his modern yet timeless style.
Quinn also reflected on the extensive process of developing his character’s costumes for the film. He collaborated closely with acclaimed costume designer Janty Yates to bring Emperor Geta’s dark and villainous persona to life.
“Myself and Janty Yates have been collaborating on this for a while,” Quinn explained. “We did numerous fittings to come up with these eccentric and opulent looks.” He described the experience of crafting the wardrobe for his character, along with his on-screen brother, as “wonderful.”
In Gladiator II, Quinn plays one of two feuding Emperors alongside Fred Hechinger. The dynamic between the brothers serves as a central plot point in the sequel, which promises to expand on the legacy of Ridley Scott’s 2000 epic.
Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Quinn’s transformation into Emperor Geta, as Gladiator II is set to premiere on November 22, 2024. With an all-star cast and the return of Ridley Scott as director, the film is poised to deliver another unforgettable chapter of historical drama.
