Kylie Jenner has confirmed that she continues to play an active role in Kylie Cosmetics, even after selling a controlling stake to Coty Inc. in 2019 for $600 million.
During an appearance on Kid Cudi’s Big Bro podcast, Kylie said, “I’m super involved. Like, really crazy about everything. I do the Instagram. I do all the posts.”
From Lip Kit to Legacy Brand
Kylie launched her beauty line in 2015 as Lip Kit by Kylie, selling a single liquid lipstick and lip liner set. The brand was rebranded as Kylie Cosmetics in 2016 and expanded into a full range of beauty and skincare products.
Reflecting on the early days, Kylie admitted she didn’t even know how much money she was making because she didn’t have access to her Shopify account. She told Dazed magazine:

“I didn’t have my Shopify account password, and I didn’t know how much money I was making. I knew it was very successful, I just didn’t… It really was not about the money for me. It was really just a lane for me to be creative and make other people happy.”
Preparing Stormi for the Future
Looking ahead, Kylie shared her hopes that her daughter Stormi Webster, seven, will eventually take over the business.
“After 10 years, I’m just still so excited to create. [It’s my] dream [for Stormi] to take over. I would love for this to be a legacy brand, and I’m working hard every day to set up that future,” she said.
Kylie emphasized her commitment to ensuring the brand continues to thrive creatively and financially for the next generation.
Conclusion
Even after selling a controlling stake of her company, Kylie Jenner remains deeply involved in shaping Kylie Cosmetics’s creative direction and social media presence, while working to turn it into a lasting legacy for her daughter Stormi Webster.
