Jennifer Lopez has revealed the transformative experience of starring in her ex-husband Ben Affleck’s latest film, Unstoppable. The movie, based on a true story, is produced by Affleck and his longtime collaborator Matt Damon. Lopez portrays Judy Robles, the mother of Anthony Robles, a wrestler who defied the odds to achieve greatness.
Speaking with Amazon/MGM, Lopez shared her excitement about being part of the project. “It was an honor to be a part of Anthony’s story and to play Judy,” she said.
Lopez emphasized the respect and humility required to take on such a role. “I approached the role with a complete lack of ego. You have to go in there with so much respect for the person you are playing because it’s her story,” she explained.
The Atlas actress also described how she immersed herself in the character, shedding her personal identity to embody Judy Robles. “I disappeared. There was no Jennifer, no JLo—that person on the screen is just Judy,” she said, reflecting on the transformative nature of the role.
Lopez credited her ability to connect with the real-life Judy as essential to her performance. “Luckily, I got to spend time with her and see who she was both alone and as a mother,” she added.
Unstoppable will debut in theaters on December 6 and will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting January 16. The film promises to inspire audiences with its story of resilience and triumph, as well as Lopez’s heartfelt portrayal of a mother’s love and determination.
