I felt I wanted out, but then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself,” he admitted. Meghan, reflecting on her own journey, confessed, “I think I can safely say, as naive as it sounds now, having gone through this learning curve in the past year and a half, that I did not have any understanding of just what it would be like.”
The couple also revealed that they were both unprepared for the intense public scrutiny they would face. “I tried to warn you as much as possible,” Harry told Meghan. “But we were totally unprepared for what happened after that.” The unexpected challenges of royal life, they explained, took them by surprise despite their best efforts to prepare.
