In the final season of Yellowstone, filming took place across various locations, including Texas, where the cast encountered unique challenges. Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, revealed some of the difficulties they faced while shooting in the Lone Star State. Speaking with CinemaBlend, Reilly shared that the production had to bring in a snake wrangler due to the abundance of snakes, particularly rattlesnakes, and tarantulas on set. Reilly, who hails from South London, found this quite a departure from the wildlife she is accustomed to, joking that the most frightening thing in England is a stinging nettle.
In addition to the wildlife, Reilly described the intense dry heat, likening it to the savannah of Africa. “We were filming on the 6666 Ranch near Guthrie, Amarillo,” she explained, adding that the vast, open land felt expansive and wild. Despite the challenges posed by the terrain and climate, the stunning Texas landscape contributed to the authenticity of the show’s final season.
The 6666 Ranch is known for its sprawling size and rugged terrain, providing a fitting backdrop for the intense drama that unfolds in Yellowstone. While Reilly only filmed in Texas for a few days, co-star Cole Hauser spent even more time on location, braving the conditions. The production’s ability to capture the essence of such a harsh environment adds a layer of realism to the series’ portrayal of life on the ranch.
