A highly anticipated screening of One Direction’s 2013 documentary, This Is Us, meant to honor the late Liam Payne, was abruptly canceled at the last minute, leaving fans devastated. The special screening was set to take place on Tuesday at various UK cinemas, including Odeon venues in Manchester. The event was meant to raise funds for mental health charities through ticket sales.
Fans had eagerly purchased tickets and made their way to cinemas, excited to relive moments from the band’s journey and show their support for the cause. However, much to their disappointment, the screenings were canceled just before the movie was set to begin.
Marcus Owramenko, a fan who attended the screening at Odeon Great Northern in Manchester, shared his experience, saying, “I just went to watch the One Direction ‘This Is Us’ charity concert film, and it was canceled last minute. The rooms were packed, and there was a queue of people waiting for the show to begin.”
He explained that just 10 minutes before the film was scheduled to start at 7:45 pm, an assistant made an announcement informing attendees that the event had been called off.
While fans were left heartbroken, Odeon did offer full refunds for both the tickets and any snacks or drinks purchased for the screening. Despite this, many were left frustrated and confused by the sudden cancellation, as no clear reason has been provided by Odeon or the event organizers.
Fans have expressed their disappointment online, questioning the reasons behind the last-minute cancellation and hoping for more clarity in the coming days.
