Sean “Diddy” Combs is confidently asserting his innocence in response to sexual assault allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura. The hip-hop mogul’s legal team is presenting “freak-off” tapes as key evidence, claiming that the videos show consensual sexual encounters and that they will prove his innocence.
According to Page Six, Combs’ attorneys argue that the tapes, which were found on Ventura’s own device, depict “private sexual activity between fully consenting adults” during their long-term relationship, which ended in 2018. The defense asserts that these tapes refute Ventura’s allegations of abuse and coercion, which she detailed in her sexual assault lawsuit filed in November 2023.
In a motion filed Tuesday in New York federal court, Combs’ legal team stated, “These videos confirm Mr. Combs’ innocence,” and emphasized that their full value can only be realized if they are shown to the public. The attorneys argue that the tapes reveal no coercion, violence, or illegal activity. Instead, they claim the footage demonstrates Ventura “not only consented but thoroughly enjoyed herself.”
Combs’ defense further insists that the videos should be part of a fair trial and are essential for demonstrating the lack of any criminal behavior. They criticize the prosecution for perpetuating stereotypes that women are unable to make their own decisions about sex, implying that the government is trying to protect women who cannot be trusted to consent.
In a striking move, Combs’ team is asking for full access to the tapes, which they believe will demonstrate that no manipulation or abuse took place during their relationship. The legal team remains steadfast in its position that the videos prove there was no coercion, violence, or criminal wrongdoing, despite the serious accusations made by Ventura.
