Kanye West is gearing up to challenge Kim Kardashian’s highly successful fashion brand, Skims, as the rapper prepares to launch his own line of bodysuits under the Yeezy label.
The 47-year-old music and fashion mogul took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday to tease the upcoming collection. He shared a glimpse of his latest venture, writing, “Yzy women’s coming next. SCALING INNOVATION. For anyone in clothing that doesn’t work at Yeezy, be afraid. Be very afraid.”
The announcement seems to be a subtle dig at his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, whose fashion brand, Skims, is well-known for its iconic bodysuits. Adding to the intrigue, West’s current wife, Bianca Censori, has often been seen sporting outfits designed by the Heartless rapper, further highlighting the parallels between the two fashion lines.
Although Kanye played a pivotal role in helping Kim launch Skims in 2019, his involvement with the brand has diminished since their divorce. At the time, Kim referred to Kanye as the “ghost creative director” of Skims, crediting him for contributing to its initial success.
In a previous interview, Kanye revealed the extent of his influence on Skims, saying, “Skims is so based on a lot of the Yeezy ideas. I had to use my relationships in fashion to establish Kim so fashionable people would say, ‘I’m down to wear Kim’s line.’”
Now, it seems Kanye is leveraging his own creative prowess to enter the competitive fashion space once again, potentially setting the stage for a high-profile rivalry between his Yeezy line and Kim’s Skims empire.
