Tom Cruise recently shared a surprising and lighthearted memory from the set of Interview with the Vampire, revealing that despite the film’s dark and brooding atmosphere, he and co-star Brad Pitt enjoyed some high-speed fun together off-screen.
During Paramount Pictures’ CinemaCon 2025 event in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 3, Cruise took a moment to talk about his upcoming Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and recalled his time working with Pitt on the 1994 gothic drama. In a nostalgic turn, Cruise revealed that while filming Interview with the Vampire, he and Pitt would unwind by racing go-karts. “We’d literally finish and go drive go-karts all night,” Cruise shared, recalling their competitive spirit.

Cruise also gushed over Pitt’s upcoming film F1, set to release this summer, and praised the actor’s driving skills. “It’s great to see Brad driving,” Cruise said. “He’s very good. He’s a very good driver. Believe me, I’ve raced against him.”
The revelation adds a fun and unexpected layer to their Interview with the Vampire experience, especially since Pitt previously reflected on the film’s more somber moments. In a 2011 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pitt admitted that filming the dark drama was a challenging experience, spending months in a gloomy, confined atmosphere. He even expressed some frustration with his character, Louis, feeling it lacked the depth of Cruise’s more dynamic portrayal of Lestat.
While Pitt may have struggled with the darker aspects of the film, Cruise’s memories of go-kart races offer a fun contrast, showing that even in the midst of brooding vampire drama, there was room for some high-speed fun.
