King Charles III Takes Precautions Ahead of Coronation Ceremony

As King Charles III prepares to be officially crowned alongside his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, on May 6, he’s taking all pre-emptive measures to ensure he doesn’t miss his own coronation.

The 74-year-old monarch has been working around the clock to make sure the landmark ceremony goes smoothly. However, the busy schedule has led to concerns about his health, and the King has reportedly set himself a 6 pm curfew in the leadup to his Coronation, according to The Telegraph.

To avoid being too tired before the ceremony, King Charles has instructed his staff that he won’t attend any royal duties after 6 pm in order to get a good night’s sleep before the event. While the monarch will host a reception for Commonwealth leaders on May 5 and a dinner for world leaders that evening at Buckingham Palace, he intends to get enough sleep before his coronation.

However, sleep specialist Dr. Sophie Bostock warned that going to bed too early could be a mistake, as changing one’s routine may make it difficult to fall asleep. This could activate the “fight or flight” stress response, which can make one feel even more alert. Instead, Dr. Bostock suggested visualization exercises, such as picturing oneself succeeding at the event, to divert the mind from worrying about not sleeping.

With King Charles III’s coronation coming up, the entire country is eagerly awaiting the historic event. While the busy schedule has raised concerns about the King’s health, his decision to prioritize rest and avoid attending any royal duties after 6 pm is a wise one. With this approach, he’ll be better prepared to handle the rigors of the coronation and set an excellent example for the nation.
