Action legend Jackie Chan has revealed exciting news for fans of his iconic films. While currently promoting his upcoming movie Karate Kid: Legends, which is set to hit theaters globally on May 30, Chan offered a promising update about the long-awaited Rush Hour 4.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the 71-year-old Hong Kong actor was asked about the possibility of returning to his beloved Rush Hour franchise, which began in 1998. Directed by Brett Ratner, the original film followed two mismatched cops—played by Chan and comedian Chris Tucker—who, despite their cultural differences and comedic clashes, were forced to work together to solve a kidnapping case.
To the delight of fans, Chan confirmed, “Yes! And I want to do [another] Shanghai Dawn, Shanghai Noon, Shanghai Knights, and Shanghai Dawn.” He added, “The script is still going on. I want to do a Rush Hour 4.”
However, while Chan is clearly enthusiastic, he admitted that the project is still in early stages and the timeline remains uncertain. “I don’t know. Ask the director, ask the studio, ask the writer. Hurry up! Otherwise, Chris Tucker and me [will be] 100 years old. We’ll be old men doing Rush Hour,” he joked.
The Rush Hour series has remained a fan-favorite over the years, known for its blend of high-energy martial arts, slapstick humor, and the undeniable chemistry between Chan and Tucker. With three successful films already under their belt, fans have long been calling for a fourth installment.
In addition to Rush Hour, Chan also expressed interest in revisiting his Shanghai film series, suggesting there may be more nostalgia-fueled sequels on the horizon.
