Meghan Markle opens up about her emotional departure from acting and her deep connection to the Suits cast.
Meghan Markle is revisiting the memories of her Hollywood days, especially her role as Rachel Zane on the beloved legal drama Suits. In a candid conversation on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, released on June 17, the Duchess of Sussex shared heartfelt insights about her acting career and what it meant to walk away from it all in 2018.
The 43-year-old former actress admitted that she occasionally misses her past life on set. “Sometimes. Sometimes,” Meghan confessed when asked if she ever longed to return to acting, despite previously stating she had moved on from that chapter.
The discussion turned emotional when Meghan reflected on filming With Love, Meghan, her new Netflix series. She noted that being on set again reminded her of how much she loved working with a crew. “I love being around a crew,” she said warmly. “You build a real family over time.”

Emma Grede empathized with the transition, noting how difficult it must have been to leave behind that creative environment. Meghan agreed, adding, “Yeah, that was different.”
Meghan described her final days on Suits as a “unique” experience, given the secrecy surrounding her departure due to her impending royal wedding to Prince Harry. “We couldn’t say I was leaving necessarily. It was speculated,” she revealed. “So, after seven years on the series, we couldn’t have a going away party. I couldn’t say my goodbyes.”
The mom of two reflected on the emotional weight of the farewell, calling it “so sad.” She added, “You work with people for seven years… That’s a really strong connection.”
Though her life has drastically changed since becoming part of the British royal family, Meghan’s comments show that her time on Suits still holds a special place in her heart.
