Prince William Says ‘It Takes a Village’ as Royal Rift Over Archie and Lilibet Deepens

Prince William is emphasizing the power of community and global responsibility in the fight against climate change. Speaking at a panel during the inaugural London Climate Action Week, the Prince of Wales made a compelling call for unity, drawing a heartfelt analogy between parenting and environmental stewardship.

A Message Beyond Climate Change?A Focus on the Future

“It takes a village to raise a family,” said the future king, referencing his own role as a father to Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (10), and Prince Louis (7).

“If you take that into the concept of a planet, it takes all of us to raise that planet,” he continued, urging collective action in addressing the climate crisis.

A Message Beyond Climate Change?

Prince William’s comments, while focused on climate action, come at a time of ongoing tension within the royal family—particularly with his younger brother, Prince Harry. Speculation continues over the status of Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in the broader royal narrative.

A report by The Times recently suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex retained their HRH titles despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020, potentially to preserve a pathway for their children’s future involvement with the monarchy.

However, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams clarified that the real tension lies between the royal brothers, not with their children.

“The rift is clearly between William and Harry. It doesn’t involve the children,” Fitzwilliams noted.

A Focus on the Future

Prince William’s remarks at the climate event align with his long-standing dedication to environmental causes. His Earthshot Prize, launched in 2020, is designed to reward innovative solutions to global environmental challenges, showcasing his commitment to a sustainable future.

By connecting climate action to family and community, the Prince of Wales not only reinforced his role as a global advocate but also subtly acknowledged the values he hopes to pass on to the next generation—both within his own family and the world at large.
