Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie is stepping back into the world of espionage, reuniting with director Doug Liman for a brand-new action thriller, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The collaboration marks a reunion of the duo who previously worked together on the 2005 hit Mr. & Mrs. Smith, where Jolie and Brad Pitt, her now ex-husband, played married assassins with secret lives. That film famously introduced the couple to each other and later led to their marriage.

In the upcoming thriller, Jolie will star as a rogue master spy in a story likened to Training Day set within the high-stakes world of espionage. The screenplay is written by F. Scott Frazier and produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum of RK Films, who previously collaborated with Jolie on her Maleficent movies.
At 50, Jolie remains busy with multiple projects. She is slated to star in Alice Winocour’s French drama Couture, premiering next month at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Additionally, she will appear alongside Halle Berry for the first time in the upcoming action thriller Maude v Maude.
Director Liman, 60, also has an active slate. He is directing Deeper, a supernatural ocean thriller starring Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas, with filming set to begin this month. Liman and Cruise are also collaborating on another project with Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie.
The reunion of Jolie and Liman is already generating excitement among fans eager to see the duo deliver another high-octane cinematic experience.
